Use Animated Christmas Lights

Holiday lighting software allows individuals to create animated Christmas light displays that are impressive.

The first time lights were used for Christmas decorations was in 1882, only three years after the invention of the light bulb. Since then, individuals have been using lights to adorn trees, houses and yards to help celebrate the Christmas holiday. Technology has allowed the application of Christmas lights to reach new heights. Using software, you can now create professional animated light shows in your own front yard. With the proper software and patience, you can create a holiday lighting display that will impress your friends and family.

Instructions

1. Design a custom plan that will highlight your home and yard. It is helpful to sketch your property on paper, including any landscaping that you may decorate. Use this plan to help determine the type of light strands and yard decorations that will be appropriate for your specific setup. Common items used for animated Christmas light displays include LED lights, three-dimensional object projections, light sculptures in the shape of holiday items and air-inflated sculptures.

2. Use yard stakes and spray paint to mark the position of the items you will be adding. It is also helpful to take photos of your yard and then make notes on the rear of them to help you remember your design plans.

3. Set up the Christmas animation software to operate the lights in the pattern you desire. Consult the directions of your specific software for help programming your light patterns. Also, connect the electronic light control panel to the computer that will be running your animation software. It is best to leave the computer and associated components that will run the software in a central location to the decorations you are programming.

4. Place all of the decorations in the proper positions as determined by your design plan. Make sure to label all of the lights and cords so you are aware of each light's location.

5. Run all of the power cords for your lights to the electronic light control panel. Refer to the labels from Step 4 to help determine which cord powers each light. The holiday lighting software will guide you in connecting the proper power cord to the proper outlet on the light control panel.

6. Test your lights to make sure all of the connections are accurate and that all of your lights are functioning properly.
