Remove Stains From Canvas Material

Canvas shoe

Canvas is a washable, durable fabric used for many different products, such as sneakers, backpacks and handbags. Using the proper cleaning materials is necessary so that the canvas does not become discolored or start to pill.

Instructions

1. Combine warm water and baking soda in a bucket. The combination should be 2 tbsp. baking soda for every 1 cup water. This is a basic cleaning mixture, which uses baking soda to lift and remove stains. You can mix it with your bare hands.

2. Place the canvas object in the solution and let it soak for a few minutes.

3. Take the object out of the solution and gently scrub it with a soft, non-abrasive pad. Use this sort of pad so that the canvas does not pill and begin to look worn.

4. Dump out the solution, and create a new solution in the bucket. Add 1 gallon water, 1/4 cup color-safe bleach and 1/4 cup dish detergent. A color-free detergent is best.

5. Soak a washcloth in the mixture, and then spread it over the stained area on the canvas. Rub it in gently.

6. Soak the object in cold water to remove the detergents.

7. Allow the canvas to air-dry.
