Do Basic Footwork in Breakdancing
To the untrained eye, breakdancing may look like a freestyle dance with no basic footwork technique. However, footwork in breakdancing, as in all forms of dance, is extremely important.
Instructions
1. Begin in a standing position with the right foot behind the left foot. The distance between the front foot and back foot is approximately one foot in length. The feet are also spread less than a foot apart. The length of the spread in either direction however can vary depending on an individual breakdancer's preference.
2. Swing the right foot over the left foot and place it to the left side of the left foot. Raise the left foot onto the ball of the foot.
3. Bring the right foot back over to the right, so that the feet are now side by side.
4. Swing the left foot over the right foot and place it to the right side of the right foot. Raise the right foot onto the ball of the foot. Make sure that this movement is the exact same as the movement in step two, except with the left foot.
5. Repeat Steps 1 through 4 as necessary. Remember that breakdancing is about personal expression, so feel free to add a personal twist to the basic footwork move in breakdancing.
