Facebook Places makes it easy to share your location in the world.
Facebook Places is the social networking site's answer to a wave of location-based services such as Gowalla and Foursquare. The service, made available in August 2010 to Facebook's U.S. users, makes it possible to easily share your current location with your Facebook friends. Adding your location to Facebook is known as "Checking In," and Facebook makes it easy to do so through the site's iPhone application or its mobile website at touch.facebook.com.
Instructions
Checking in via Facebook's Online Website
1. Navigate to touch.facebook.com using your phone's mobile browser.
2. Select the "Places" tab from the Facebook mobile homepage.
3. Select OK to check in after the Facebook website finds your location and prompts you to share it.
Checking in via Facebook's iPhone Application
4. Open the Facebook application from your iPhone home screen.
5. Select the "Places" option from the application's main screen, indicated by a red pin.
6. Wait for the application to find your location, and verify that you wish to check in. Your location will be shared on Facebook.
