Create the illusion of a coin vanishing and reappearing with the S.O.S. Coin Production trick.
The S.O.S. Coin Production trick creates the illusion of a coin appearing in your hand out of mid-air. Many street magicians break the ice with a new audience using this trick. It is a fairly elementary sleight-of-hand trick that can be learned quickly with enough practice.
Instructions
1. Press a coin against the back of your index and middle finger with your thumb. Move your middle finger down and toward your palm. This will level the coin parallel to your index finger. Hold your hand so the backside of your hand is facing the spectator. The index finger will hide the coin. The motion is very similar to snapping your fingers. Practice this motion until you can perform it without thinking. This is called a retention move. You will perform this move later in the trick.
2. Grab the spectator's coin with your right hand. When you bring the coin over to your left hand, it should rest against the muscle of the thumb. Close your left-hand fingers over your right fingers and the coin.
3. Perform the retention you learned in Step 1 while your right hand is covered by your left hand. Pull your right hand out of your left hand while hiding the coin behind your right index finger. Your left hand will remain closed to create the illusion that the coin is still in your left palm.
4. Let your right hand go limp at your side with the coin secured in a classic finger palm position. The finger palm position is defined by a coin held in an open hand by pinching it between the first and second fingers. To do this, push the coin up from the palm with your thumb. You want to push it in the gap between your first and second fingers. Your first and second fingers will then pinch the coin, making your hand appear limp. All your attention should be focused on your left hand while your right hand falls to the side.
5. Push the coin behind your right hand while still pinching it with your index and middle finger. Lift up your left hand in a fist and dramatically open your hand. Show both sides of your left hand to create the illusion that the coin is vanished. Lift up your right hand and show the palm. Remember, the coin is currently pinched between your index and middle finger behind your palm. Hold your right hand to the side and count to three while continuing to wave your left hand. On the count of three, bend your fingers in toward your right palm and quickly grab the coin with your thumb through your index and middle finger. Lift your right hand up and show the coin to the audience. The coin has magically appeared.
