You don't have to be Rembrandt or Monet to draw a simple human face. The next time you try to draw a portrait, even if it's just a time-killing sketch, you can make your rendering more realistic and lend it some personality by getting the small details right, including the eyelashes.
Instructions
1. Look at yourself in the mirror to study what your eyelashes look. Examine the relationship of size, determining how long the eyelashes are to the eye between them. Note, too, that they are slightly angled in one direction.
2. Start at the corner of your eye and draw eyelashes with thin quick strokes raising up from the eye. They shouldn't all be the same length. The shortest lashes start in the corner furthest from your nose and get progressively longer. Incorporate the angle, so that you make nearly diagonal strokes upward from the eye.
3. Draw the bottom eyelashes in the same direction as the top lashes. So if your pencil moves from left to right in an upward stroke on the top of the eye, it should move from left to right in a downward stroke on the bottom of the eye. When you are done, the eyelashes should look as if they would form a "v" if it were not for the eye in between them.
