Play 7string Guitars In Metal Music

Learning to play the guitar is exciting and fun. You can take your guitar playing skills to the next level by learning to play metal music. The seventh string can be used for this application, as well, if done correctly.

Instructions

1. Find and purchase a 7-string guitar. These guitars are specially designed for metal music and can be found at any guitar or musical instrument store. They are fairly common and the qualities vary, as with any guitar manufacturer.

2. Understand the make-up of the 7-string guitar. The first 6 strings are the same as any other guitar set up. They go in order E, B, G, D, A and E. Then B is found on the bottom for the 7th string. Turn the guitar down a half step from the normal pitch to get the ballsy sounds most common in metal music. These sounds can be recognized in music recorded by bands like Korn and Dream Theater.

3. Play through one of your favorite riffs to hear the difference between the 7-string guitar and the sounds you hear on a normal guitar. Have someone play with you to hear the difference immediately. Play with the pitch levels to find the desired sound you are looking for.

4. Practice using the 7-string guitar for all your metal music experiences. Once you get used to the additional string and pitch set-ups, you will be off to a whole new sound of metal music and more authentic feel.
