Buy Patrick Nagel Prints

Born in Ohio and raised in California, Patrick Nagel was a graphic artist who produced popular illustrations of women. Nagel's models had a very distinctive style. According to Todd Bingham, who interviewed the artist and specializes in art gallery sales, Nagel's women were "contemporary women--bold, aggressive, stand-offish, independent."

Nagel illustrated stories for "Playboy" magazine in the mid 1970s. He is also best known for designing the cover of the best-selling album "Rio" for the band Duran Duran. He died in 1984 at age 38 of a heart attack.
