Clean & Polish Granite Counter tops

Keep your granite counter tops looking new by regularly cleaning and polishing them.

Granite is a popular choice for kitchen and bath counter tops because it is stain- and scratch-resistant. In order for you to keep your granite looking its best, you need to clean and polish it regularly. If you find your granite becoming dull soon after you polish it, the problem very well may be the products you are using to clean your counter top. Many commercial cleaners contain harsh chemicals and acids that can damage your granite.

Instructions

1. Pour ¼ cup white vinegar into a spray bottle. Add 2 cups warm water and shake well to mix.

2. Spray your granite counters with the vinegar solution. Let sit for a few minutes. Wet your sponge with warm water and wipe down the counters. Allow the counters to air dry.

3. Spray the counter top evenly with crystal buffing spray, the type made for granite counter tops. Plug in your hand-held orbital buffer, and gently buff the counter tops by applying the moving pad to the granite surface.

4. Buff the entire granite surface. Be sure not to press down too hard as this may cause damage to the granite. When you are done buffing the counter top, wipe away any residual crystal buffing spray using a damp, clean sponge.
