Colored Seashells Craft

Use your seashell collection to make charming crafts.

Dust off your seashell collection and use it to design boutique-worthy arts and crafts. Making crafts with your seashells is an ideal way to commemorate a special beach vacation. You can use hand-painted shells to create everything from home decor to jewelry. If you can part with your creations, they'll make excellent birthday and holiday presents.

Home Decor

Enhance a room featuring a beach decor theme with hand-painted seashell crafts. Making your own decor pieces will allow you to completely customize the look of the space. Cover small seashells with acrylic paint and allow them to dry thoroughly. Use a hot glue gun to attach the shells around the perimeter of a plain wooden picture frame or mirror. As another idea, glue the seashells to a wreath base as island-inspired wall decor.

Party Gear

If you're hosting a sun, sand and sea-themed birthday bash, save money by making your own seashell party decorations. Paint scallop shells and glue one in front of each miniature light on a string. Hang the string of lights in the party space to create a soft glow. As a party table centerpiece, fill a tall clear glass vase with small painted seashells and nestle a pillar candle inside.

Children's Crafts

Kids can show off their favorite seashells by transforming them into whimsical craft items. Paint small seashells vibrant colors and glue them to flip flop straps as personalized summer sandals. As another option, paint mini beach scenes inside scallop shells using acrylic or watercolor paints and small brushes.

Jewelry

Create wearable art using painted seashells. To begin a project, paint the seashells and use a drill equipped with a small bit to create one hole in the top or bottom of each shell. String the shells onto a thin cord to make a necklace or bracelet. Use the seashells along with eye pins and hooks to design stylish dangling earrings.
