Draw A Lamp

An image of a light bulb to use as a guide.

Drawing a picture of a light bulb is a very easy thing to do. The drawing will need to include the glass bulb, a metal base, a filament and an electrical contact. It is important that every part is symmetrical for the picture to have the right balance. Drawing a light bulb is so easy that any age can do it. This is a great starter project to strike the imagination of a beginning artist.

Instructions

1. Draw a circle.

2. Lightly sketch a vertical line down the center of the circle. The line should extend from the top of the circle, through the bottom of the circle and down to the point that will become the bottom of the light bulb where the threaded section is. This line will serve as a guide for drawing the filament and the threaded metal base of the bulb.

3. Extend the drawing of the circle into the shape of a light bulb.

4. Draw the outline of the metal base. Draw horizontal lines to create the threads where the bulb screws into a socket.

5. Using the vertical line as a guide, draw the filament inside the bulb. The filament is the wire inside the bulb that glows with light when it is turned on.

6. Draw a small bump on the bottom of the metal base that represents the electrical contact of the bulb.

7. Carefully erase the vertical guideline that was drawn in Step 2.
