Remove Marks From Putting on Glasses

Regular long-term use of glasses can cause unsightly marks on the skin.

Wearing glasses regularly, whether for sight or as protection against the sun, often causes marks to appear at the sides of the face, across the bridge of the nose and at each side of the nose. There are various causes of these marks, including the fit of the glasses and inefficient skin care. With the right treatment, these marks can easily be removed and even avoided.

Instructions

1. Wash your face thoroughly using facial cleansing wash. Red irritated skin could be damaged, and this can give access to bacteria, resulting in infection. Washing at least twice a day, or more in warmer weather, will keep your skin clean and help it heal. Use a cleanser that is designed specifically for the face. Other cleansers may be too harsh and will dry the skin.

2. Apply toner. Toner will tighten the skin and reduce pores. Stronger skin will mark less easily.

3. Apply moisturizer. Skin is more delicate when very dry. Think of the difference between straw and fresh grass. The more pliable your skin, the less it will be damaged under pressure. Experiment with moisturizers until you find one that is readily absorbed but does not leave your skin feeling greasy. Moisturizing is also important to counter possible drying effects of the toner.

4. Wash your glasses each day in antibacterial soap. Bacteria builds up on glasses, and this can have a detrimental effect on the skin, causing infection and redness.

5. Visit an optician and ask him to check that your glasses are fitting properly. If the temples are touching the sides of your face, it is possible that the frames are too narrow for your head, and you may need to purchase new frames. Marks on the nose can also be caused by the weight of thick lenses. Ask whether it is possible to have thinner ones.

6. Consider purchasing contact lenses. Alternating between glasses and contact lenses will give your skin a break and allow it to recover.
