Wire A Schecter Pickup

Repair or replace the pickups in your Schecter guitar.

Schecter is a manufacturer of electric guitars and basses. Replacing or installing a pickup in your Schecter can save you money over paying a repair technician, and allows you to change the tone of your instrument with different pickups. Stock Schecter passive pickups are based on a two-wire connection, and can easily be serviced with the use of a soldering iron and a few simple tools.

Instructions

1. Remove the plastic electronics cover on the back of the guitar, using a small Phillips head screwdriver.

2. Thread the pickup wires through the top of the guitar. Secure the pickup to the pickup rings with the included mounting screws.

3. Separate the shielding wire from the insulated wire. Strip 1/4 inch of insulation from the small wire, using a pair of wire strippers.

4. Solder the shielding wire to the back of a volume or tone pot to ground it.

5. Solder the insulated wire to the outer contact of the volume pot, or to the positive connection of your guitar's output jack. Replace the electronics cover and check that the pickup signal is clean by plugging in to an amplifier.
