Visit Clark Gable'S Crypt

Clark Gable appeared in 92 films during his Hollywood career, including "Gone with the Wind," one of the most popular films of all time. He died on November 16, 1960 from a coronary thrombosis. Fans can visit the crypt where Gable is laid to rest to pay tribute to him today.

Instructions

1. Go to the Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Glendale, California. This cemetery has the final resting places of many Hollywood stars, although they can be difficult to find. The grounds consist of around 300 acres and also contain a museum, art gallery and a lake. The address for the Forest Lawn Memorial Park is 1712 S. Glendale Avenue, Glendale, California.

2. Pick up a map at the information kiosk that is located near the main entrance gates. The map does not list where particular graves are located, but it provides the names of the streets and buildings.

3. Drive to the Great Mausoleum in the southwest corner of the memorial park. This is a large building that looks like a cathedral. A number of stars, including Clark Gable, are buried inside the Great Mausoleum.

4. Enter the Great Mausoleum to see the unveiling of "The Last Supper Window," a stained glass representation of Da Vinci's famous painting. Visitors are only allowed inside the Great Mausoleum to view the show, which occurs every half hour. You should have some time before and after the show for a quick look at some of the graves.

5. Head straight across the main hallway and just left of the statue called "In Memoria." You'll enter the Columbarium of Prayer. This branches to the left into the Sanctuary of Trust.

6. Look for Clark Gable's crypt on the left hand side. It's three crypts up from the bottom and is next to the crypt for Carole Lombard, one of Gable's wives. Be aware that some of the hallways in the Great Mausoleum may be roped off and you may not be able to get directly to Clark Gable's crypt.
