Go To The Egyptian Museum In Cairo

Visit the Egyptian Museum in Cairo

Few museums can boast that they have one of the most impressive collections in the world, but the Egyptian Museum of Cairo can. They have the permanent collection of the Tutankhamun (King Tut) artifacts, including the impressive Golden Mask, which were found in the boy king's tomb, along with a host of other priceless antiquities. It is certainly not to be missed during your stay.

Instructions

1. Use the Cairo Metro system to get around Cairo and to the museum. It is safe, clean and efficient. Cabs are also inexpensive and easy to find all over the city.

2. Spend the day perusing the extensive number of artifacts in the King Tut collection. Come back the next day and see more of the enormous collection.

3. Splurge on a guided tour with one of the knowledgeable museum guides, especially if you have limited time. They will be able to give you the highlights of the museum in about 2 hours, after which you can browse on your own.

4. Venture into the mummy room and look at the remains of the great pharaohs from Egyptian history. If you intend to visit the Mummy rooms, you must pay an additional entrance fee.

5. Time your visit to the Egyptian Museum with one of the many cultural festivals throughout the year. You can listen to traditional Egyptian and classical music at the Arabic Music Festival or see the latest films at the Cairo International Film Festival.

6. Prepare yourself for the bustle of Cairo. It is an extremely congested city, filled with millions of people, cars, buses and horse-driven carriages. Most attractions, including the museum, will be packed at all times, so get ready to wait.
