Do a Hand-to-Hand Spread with Playing Cards
When asking someone to choose a card during a card trick, you will need to spread out the cards for them. When doing so, you can opt to spread the cards out on the table or spread them out in your hands. The following steps will show you 2 different ways to do a hand-to-hand spread with playing cards.
Instructions
Spread Number 1
1. Hold the deck in your left hand.
2. Place your left thumb on the top of the deck while holding the bottom of the cards with your fingers.
3. Bring the cards over with your thumb into your left hand.
4. Spread the fingers of both of your hands on the bottom of the deck as you spread the cards out. The cards will hold themselves up in the middle of the deck as they spread.
5. Ask your friend or an audience member to pick a card from the spread-out playing cards.
Spread Number 2
6. Hold the deck in your left hand.
7. Move the cards over with the thumb of your left hand on top of the cards into your right hand. Feed the cards over little by little to spread out the cards.
8. Walk the pointer and middle fingers of your right hand across the cards on the bottom of the deck into your right hand as you feed the cards over with your thumb.
9. Ask your friend or an audience member to pick a card.
