Pack & Move Presented Art

Framed artwork is difficult to pack because of its size and the need for meticulous packaging to protect its fragile parts. However, knowing that you are able to preserve a priceless painting or a beloved heirloom makes the task worth the time and effort. You need a few household materials to help you finish packing and moving your framed art.

Instructions

1. Prepare a box for your artwork by putting wadded newsprint paper at the bottom of your box. Make sure there is enough newsprint paper to cover the entire base of the box. Do not close your box's top end.

2. Put masking tape across the front of the framed art if it is framed with glass. Stick the tape like an "X" to keep the artwork in place if its glass breaks or cracks while in transit.

3. Wrap the art with bubble wrap. Tape the bubble wrap carefully after two to three wraps to seal.

4. Place the item inside your box. Fill in all the spaces with more lightly wadded newsprint paper in case the framed art fits loosely inside your box. You may use an additional box in case you want added protection.

5. Close the box and tape its ends with your packaging tape. Label it with "Fragile -- Art Work."

6. Move the box by carrying it with its front side facing up. Have another person hold the other end in case it's too heavy or big for you to manage on your own.
