Make Hair Bows for Puppies
For some puppies, hair bows are just a pretty accessory that they usually get at the groomer, but for some a hair bow helps to keep shaggy hair out of their eyes. No matter whether you want to put a bow in your dog's hair just for looks or for practical reasons, you don't have to rely on the groomer for those cute puppy bows. You can make your own little puppy bows with a few inexpensive supplies and no crafting experience.
Instructions
1. Take your small hair elastic and place it around the neck of your soda bottle.
2. Cut a 9-inch and a 3-inch length of your 3/8-inch grosgrain ribbon.
3. Tie your 3-inch piece of grosgrain ribbon and thread in through your hair elastic so that it is held in place between the hair elastic and the soda bottle neck.
4. Make a loop with your 9-inch piece of ribbon so that the loop of the ribbon is about 3 inches in height and you have two 3-inch tails at the bottom of the loop. Bring the center of the loop down to where the ribbon crosses itself to form a bow shape. Place this bow shape between the bottle neck and the hair elastic, like you did with the 3-inch strip of ribbon, so that the elastic runs right along the line of ribbon that is between the loops of the bow and the tails of the bow. Adjust the 3-inch strip of ribbon so that it runs up and down the center of the bow.
5. Tie the top and bottom ends of the 3-inch strip of ribbon around the center of the bow shape, to hold it in this shape, with a double knot. Snip all the excess ribbon from the 3-inch piece tied around the center of your bow.
6. Remove the puppy hair bow from the bottle neck and push the tails of the bow through the elastic so that all of the bow is on the same side as the elastic.
