Register for a SXSW Student Badge
If you're a student and are planning to attend the SXSW Film Festival, you can get a discounted rate. The process for registering for a Student Badge is the same as registering for any other badge. However, since it's a category under the Film Badge, there are extra steps to take.
Instructions
1. Understand what the Student Badge gives you access to. With the Student Badge, you can attend all events in the Film Festival. However, Interactive Festival and Music Conference activities aren't included.
2. Visit the SXSW website. From the homepage, click the "Register to Attend SXSW" link.
3. Examine the chart of the prices for various badge types. The Student Badge is at the bottom of the chart. Use the information about advance purchase rates to decide when to register.
4. Click the "Film Badge" link near the top of the page under the heading, "Register now for a . . ." This link takes you to the SXSW secure server, where you can purchase your badge.
5. Create an account for your SXSW Shopping Cart if you don't already have one. Log in if you do.
6. Select the "Conference Registrations" link, which brings up a set of all of the badge choices. Click "Student Film Registration." Select "OK" when prompted that you must show proof that you're a student to take advantage of the student rate.
7. Add your information to the badge by clicking the "Add Assignment Info" link. After this, follow the directions on screen to complete your transaction.
8. Bring a copy of your current school ID and proof of enrollment when you pick up your badge, or you won't be let into the festival at the student rate.
