Create A Photographer'S Portfolio

Make a Photographer's Portfolio

One of the most satisfying aspects of being a photographer is having your art recognized and appreciated by the masses. The best way to get your work seen is to create a professional portfolio featuring your best work. Portfolios are the preferred way to showcase your work for potential employers. There are several ways to put together a professional portfolio.

Instructions

1. Decide on a theme for your portfolio. Your portfolio needs an overall theme that connects the photos. A conceptual portfolio features photos based on a topic like war, courage or city life. You can also create a portfolio that showcases your technical abilities. For example, you can choose photos that showcase your close-ups or wide-angle shots.

2. Take around 100 to 150 photos that relate to the theme of your portfolio. You will not use all of these photos, but this will give you a wide selection from which to choose your best work.

3. Select 20 of your best photographs for your portfolio. The smaller your portfolio, the more time people will take to examine and enjoy each photograph.

4. Present your portfolio. There are a number of ways to display your photo art for others to enjoy and critique. Submit your portfolio to photography exhibits and shows for others to see and judge. You can also place your portfolio somewhere in your house for friends and family to see.
