Make Identical Labels With An Avery Sheet

Return address labels can be easily duplicated and printed with Avery label templates.

Avery makes labels for many applications. The labels come in different sizes and shapes and some labels are even made from different materials. The labels can be written out by hand, but sometimes duplicate labels are needed. Instead of hand writing the same label multiple times, use Avery's online label templates to design duplicate labels with a word processing program.

Instructions

Creating Avery Labels

1. Pick the appropriate labels. Avery makes printable address labels, shipping labels and file folder labels. Choose the label according to the size needed instead of the application it will be used for.

2. Browse the online templates. Avery has created several templates to choose from. Some have graphics or text built into the template design.

3. Download the corresponding template from the "Templates" section of the Avery website. The templates are .doc files, so you'll need a word processing program that handles these files.

4. Open the template file with your word processing software.

5. Type the text that you need into one label. The template is a table with cells positioned and sized to correspond to the actual labels on the label sheet. Create and position your text in one label, or table cell.

6. Copy and paste the cell you designed to every cell that will be a printed label.

Printing Labels

7. Read your printer documentation to find out if the printer prints to the top or bottom side of a page. If your printer documentation does not give this information, skip to step 2. If you know this information, skip to step 3.

8. Draw a letter or symbol on one sheet of printer paper. Insert the sheet into your printer and print something. Any text will suffice. Make note of where your drawing was when you loaded the sheet into the printer. If your drawing was face up and the printed text is one the same side, then you'll need to place your labels face up. This test will determine how you need to orient the label sheet in your printer.

9. Place the label sheet in your printer. Make sure you have positioned the sheet so the printing will appear on the label and not the back of the sheet.
