Make Abs plastic Reproduction Areas Of The Body For Any Vehicle

Reproduce body parts of the car from fiberglass.

When fixing up a car or adding custom modifications, you may find that you need to make parts from scratch. That is, you might need to reproduce body parts of the car from fiberglass. To do this, you need an accurate mold of the part you need. Once cast, you can get on with modifying your car to capture the look and classic feel you want.

Instructions

1. Spray the surface of the reproduction mold with with mold release compound. Follow all directions on your mold release labeling, covering the surface generously.

2. Mix together the resin and hardener following the printed directions on the package in your disposable mixing container. Do this as quickly and accurately as you can before the mold release dries out.

3. Apply a thin layer of gel coat to the mold, covering he mold release you applied in step one. Apply layers of fiberglass cloth onto the mold. The gel coat will help hold them in place. Cover the entire mold as quickly as you can.

4. Paint on the mixed resin with a roller brush or large paint brush. Saturate all parts of the fiberglass. Use the end of the brush to push the fiberglass and resin into the shape of the mold. Allow the resin to completely dry until hard. This should take a few hours.

5. Slip the end of a putty knife along the edge of the fiberglass body part and the mold. Twist the knife softly releasing the body part from the mold. Using your hands, pop the rest of the fiberglass off and away from the mold. Sand the rough edges of the fiberglass body part and prep for painting.
