Create A Small Desktop Picture Easel With Wire

Make a smaller version of the type of easel you would use to display a chart.

If you have a small piece of art or a photograph to display, make a decorative easel to hold it in place on a tabletop. Use the same easel for a new piece of art or a different photograph any time the mood strikes you; the simple design of the easel makes it easy to change out the art as often as you wish. The easel also works well to display a holiday greeting card or a birthday card.

Instructions

1. Use wire cutters to cut a length of wire or a piece of a wire clothes hanger that is 28 inches long.

2. Start at one end of the wire and pinch it with round nose pliers. Twist the wire around itself to form a spiral shape, using approximately 2 inches of the wire to complete the spiral.

3. Move down from the spiral by 4 inches of wire and bend the wire up at an angle, then back down again, as if writing a capital letter "A." The sides of the A should each be 8 inches long, with the spiraled end you started with pointing straight out behind the A to support it.

4. Bend the other end of the wire straight out from the opposite side of the A to form the second support beam of your easel. Push on the top of the easel at the point to lean it backward slightly toward the support beams so it will remain upright and not tip forward.

5. Use the pliers to spiral the final end of the wire as you did with the starting end. The spirals will help to hold up the frame of the easel.

6. Pinch a small clip holder or clothespin to the top corner of the easel. Slide a photo or a small piece of art inside the clip to hold it to the easel.
