A common method for securing canvas murals to a wall is by using dovetailed hanging slots. Dovetailed hanging slots are located on the back of a mural panel. One end of the slot is a round hole wide enough to insert a screw head into the hole. Once the screws on both sides of the mural are in place, then simply slide the mural to the side, locking the screw heads into the narrow slot channels, securely fastening the mural to the wall. To remove a canvas mural from the wall, you simply reverse the installation process and repair the wall.
Instructions
1. Slide the mural to the side until the screws are positioned at the end of the slot at the circular opening.
2. Pull the mural perpendicular from the wall to remove it from the screws.
3. Remove the hanging screws from the wall with a screwdriver.
4. Apply spackling paste into the screw holes using a putty knife. Allow the spackling paste to dry completely.
5. Sand the patched area with a fine-grade sandpaper until texture matches the rest of the wall.
6. Touch up the patched holes with the same color paint used on the walls.
