Storage Suggestions For Stuffed Toys

It's easy for the number of stuffed animals your child owns to grow over the years and overtake a bedroom or playroom. Because so many stuffed animals come with memories of holidays and loved ones, you might want to hang on to them. You can create a safe haven for the toys instead of sending them to the trash. This will allow your child to keep the stuffed toys without having them scattered all over the room.

Out of Sight

For those with more stuffed animals than they can count, plastic bins may be the answer. Store the stuffed animals that are rarely played with in sealed plastic storage containers. Leave the rest out. After a few months, make a switch. Bring out the stored stuffed animals and place the others in the bin. This will allow you to efficiently store many of the toys and it will give your child something new to play with every few months.

Multi-Purpose

Bean bag chairs are not just for sitting anymore. Unzip a bean bag chair and carefully empty the contents. Make sure to do this over a large garbage can because the little beads inside the bag can quickly spread all over the house. Take some stuffed animals and pack them into the bag. Do not over stuff. This makes for excellent storage while providing your child with extra seating. When the child wants a stuffed animal, it can easily be removed from the bags.

Easy Access

For tiny stuffed animals, use an over-the-door shoe organizer. Hang the organizer on the back of a closet door and fill the pockets with little stuffed animals. Adults may have to help smaller children in retrieving toys that are stored at the top. This is a great way to make sure that the toys are off the floor and out of sight for guests.

If you have a crib or a playpen that your child has outgrown, make use of it. Set it up in the child's room and stuff it full of the toys that are not played with very often. This would work well with a jungle or zoo bedroom theme as the little animals would be in their "cage."

You can also suspend a rope from the ceiling using a hook. Clip the stuffed animals to the rope with a laundry hook. Clip the smaller ones to the top of the rope and add the larger ones as you move down the rope. Your child may need help retrieving the ones at the top but should have no problem with the rest.
