Lots of people dream of becoming an actor. When you decide to take the steps necessary to follow your dream, one of the first actions you have to take is to create a resume. Even if you don't have any experience or credits, you need a resume. There is an exact format to follow, so that your resume will look professional and be taken seriously. It is easy to do, if you just follow a few steps and stick to the format.
Instructions
1. Open a Word processing program. Choose a simple and easy to read font. At the top of the page type your name. Center it on the page and increase the size so it stands out and is bold.
2. Skip a line and, if you have an agent or manager, list the information and insert the logo. Make sure you have the company name or logo, agent name and phone number. Skip another line and type your height, weight, hair color and eye color in a two column format, so the height and weight are in one column and the hair color and eye color in the other. These should be centered, based off your name, with a gap in between the two columns.
3. Skip two lines and type "Education." Bold this line. This should be on the left side of the page, not centered. On the lines below enter your education, such as high school, college and graduate or vocational schooling. Be sure to list the degree you received from each institution. Ex. Brown University B.A. Psychology.
4. Skip another line and type "Training." Bold this line. In the lines below list all training you have taken throughout the years, such as dance, singing, acting, martial arts, athletics, and music. List the school or facility followed by the number of years of instruction, name of the instructor(s) and skills taught there.
5. Skip another line and type "Special Skills." Bold this line. On the following line, list all your special skills. List only things you are at least proficient in and would be able to do on cue if asked, such as dance, singing, sports, stunts/tricks, foreign languages, or accents. Keep this as a single running list with each item separated by a comma.
6. Keep all this information to one page in length. Print it out on paper or cardstock. Set up your paper cutter and cut the resume down to 8 by 10 inches. This is the standard size, as it fits perfectly against the back of a headshot when stapled.
