Draw Daffy Duck

Daffy Duck came to life in 1937 and appeared in many of Warner Brothers’ Looney Tunes as well as Merry Melodies cartoons. Along with Mickey Mouse and Bugs Bunny, he is one of the most recognizable and distinguished animated characters around. There are almost an unlimited amount of pictures to use as a guide if you want to draw Daffy Duck. Just follow a few steps to get started.

Instructions

1. Choose a picture in a book or online to use as a guide. Daffy has been represented differently over the years, and has been portrayed in a number of wacky ways.

2. Decide on how you want to portray Daffy Duck. If you are more familiar with the character or have even drawn him before, you may want to make a slightly different drawing than you see. This will help you outline the position of the main features as you start drawing.

3. Draw an outline on paper with a pencil, starting with the head. Sketch the trademark oval eyes and pronounced bill. This should start to resemble Daffy Duck almost right away. If it helps, you can draw center lines to use as a reference for features and other parts of the drawing.

4. Draw an outline of the long body. Depending on the position of the character in your drawing, leave a space between the body and head, and connect them with 2 lines for the narrow neck.

5. Draw an outline of the arms and legs. Daffy has long, thin limbs. Don’t forget to emphasize his large, webbed feet if they are part of your drawing.

6. Erase any extra lines that you used for guidance. If part of the arm is covering the body, a line across the arm will not look right. Likewise if you used any center lines to gauge where you wanted parts of the drawing to be, erase them.

7. Fill in details to enhance expression. Add cowlicks to the head if there is no hat. Fill in the inside of the mouth, if visible. If you wish, use crayons or markers to color your drawing, according to the picture you are using as a reference.

8. Show off your drawing for others to see, then hang it on the wall. You could practice drawing the whole Merry Melodies gang.
