Douglas Anderson School of the Arts
Douglas Anderson School of the Arts is a performing arts school located on San Diego Road for grades nine to 12. Along with a traditional high school curriculum, Douglas Anderson School of the Arts offers classes focusing on dance, visual arts, creative writing, theater performance, music and dance. Traditional courses of study include arts, mathematics, science, social studies, world languages and physical education. Classes meet the standards set forth by the Florida Department of Education. Admission into Douglas Anderson School of the Arts involves an audition. Audition information is available either online or at the campus. Douglas Anderson School of the Arts recommends campus tours and informational sessions prior to the audition process.
LaValla School of the Arts
LaValla School of the Arts is a middle school servicing grade six to eight and located on Beaver and Davis Streets. Areas of study include theater, visual arts, vocal music, dance, creative writing, guitar, piano, orchestra and band. LaValla School of the Arts offers traditional middle school courses in mathematics, language arts, social studies and science. The admissions process of LaValla School of the Arts involves a lottery. County residents receive application with specific deadlines. Higher lottery preference goes to students who have applications signed, tour LaValla School of the Arts and audition. Priority in the lottery goes to military dependents, magnet program students from other counties, sibling preference and high audition results.
Attitudes Performing Arts School
Attitudes Performing Arts Studio is located on Southside Boulevard in downtown Jacksonville. Classes focus on tap dancing, ballet, jazz dancing, pageant training, pointe and performance team. Students from age 3 to adult take classes for beginners, intermediate or advanced. Registration is open to the public on a first-come basis. Returning students receive discounted rates. Monthly fees apply with additional fees for recitals and competitions.
Bolles
Bolles is located on San Jose Boulevard in southern Jacksonville. Bolles is a college preparatory school that focuses on academics and performing arts. More than 1,700 students every year in grades pre-k through 12 attend Bolles. Classes at the Upper School Fine and Performing Arts consist of visual arts, vocal music, instrumental music, drama and dance. Admission into Bolles involves an application and financial aid package. Boarding fees apply to students in grade seven to 12.
