The city of White Plains in New York is called the "City in the Park" because it offers an escape from the hustle and bustle of New York City, just 30 minutes away. Named one of the "Best Places for the Rich and Single" by CNN Money, White Plains provides an abundance of fun and exciting of things to do for its residents and visitors.


Public Recreation


With outdoor swimming pools, nature reserves, ice skating rinks, tennis courts and parks, there is no shortage of public recreation in White Plains. The parks, providing both active and passive open space, encompass a total of 126 acres of land. Twenty-three additional acres are dedicated to nature reserves, which offer bird watching and nature trails. The tennis and racquetball courts and soccer fields offer space for practicing, or watching, high-activity sports. Historical Society


The White Plains Historical Society provides plenty of things to do for history buffs, intellectuals and architecture aficionados. As part of their mission to promote public interest and awareness of the history of the City of White Plains, they host and promote numerous events for the public to enjoy. There are eight historic sites in White Plains that are listed in the National Register of Historic Places.
