Pokemon breeding is an important aspect of "Pokemon Gold" as it allows you to have multiple Pokemon of the same species on your team, even if that species is rare. When two Pokemon breed they produce an egg, which must be hatched before you can add the baby Pokemon inside to your team. However, time in "Pokemon Gold" is measured in steps taken, not minutes passed, so to make your Pokemon egg hatch you need to get moving.
Instructions
1. Fly to Goldenrod City and visit the Pokemon Day-Care Center to the south of the town itself.
2. Talk to either the man or woman inside to leave two of your Pokemon in the Day-Care Center. If the Pokemon are from the same egg group or one of the Pokemon is a Ditto, they will breed successfully.
3. Exit the Day-Care Center and walk around. After 250 to 500 steps, check back in the Day-Care Center to see if the Pokemon have laid an egg. If not, continue to walk around and check back in frequently until they produce an egg.
4. Talk to the couple in the Day-Care Center once the egg has been laid and choose to keep the egg. This will begin the gestation period for the Pokemon.
5. Walk around the world map until your Pokemon egg hatches. Most Pokemon require 5200 steps to hatch. However, some species can take up to 10,300 steps or as little as 1300 steps.
6. Return to the Day-Care Center to claim your recently hatched Pokemon baby once you have walked the required distance.
