Moss coats rocks, the sides of trees and even the ground in damp conditions. Moss can also grow on old flower pots and on the sides of wooden buildings. Create your own moss-covered flower pots, without having to wait for nature to take its course, by giving nature a little help in the form of buttermilk and a blender. In just a few weeks, you'll have a beautiful moss-covered flower pot of your own to add a little natural decoration to your potted plants.
Instructions
1. Put some moss and buttermilk into a blender and blend the two ingredients together. Exact measurements don't matter--you just need to make enough to cover your pot and the mixture needs to be thin enough to paint.
2. Pour the mixture into a bowl and paint it onto your terracotta pot with a paintbrush.
3. Place the pot covered with the mixture into a clear plastic bag, then tie the top of the bag shut with a twist tie.
4. Set the pot, in the bag, in a sunny location and let it sit for 14 days.
5. Remove the pot from the bag; it should now have a nice coat of moss growing on it.
6. Place a plant in the pot that requires regular watering, because the moss will need water absorbed from the clay pot on a regular basis to survive.
