Manage A Fire place Place With Electric Fans

Start a fire in your fireplace insert and stay warm.

Living in colder climates is great when you can warm up next to a fireplace. But what happens when you want to keep more of the heat inside instead of sending it up the chimney? You install a fireplace insert with electric fans. The insert allows you to burn wood at a controlled rate, and the fans circulate room air over the hot surface of the stove and out into the room. The insert's door allows for the placement of wood inside while providing a view of the fire from outside the appliance. Operating a fireplace insert with electric fans is simple and economical.

Instructions

1. Plug in the insert. The fireplace insert will come with an electric plug that fits into any standard home electrical outlet. The insert should already be installed into the fireplace and the fireplace damper in the open position.

2. Adjust the insert damper. Pull the damper lever toward you to open and push away from you to close. Adjusting the opening allows more or less of the flame to escape up the chimney.

3. Adjust the bottom air inlet valve. Doors or a valve opening can be adjusted to increase or decrease available air for the fire. To keep a fire burning longer, shut down the air supply. This starves the fire, which makes it burn more slowly.

4. Turn on the fans. Once your fireplace insert contains burning fuel, turn on the fans. They will pull air in from below the insert and force it out after passing over the insert's heated surfaces.

5. Adjust the fans as needed, increasing or decreasing the flow of heated air to suit your taste and need for heat.
