Do Freezes In Breakdancing

Do Freezes in Breakdancing

Learning to do freezes in breakdancing are a big art of the dance routine. Freezes, also known as stalls, are dance moves where you bring your body to a complete stop in the middle of a breakdancing routine. When you first learn to do freezes in breakdancing, it's best to start with a basic move called the "Baby Freeze."

Instructions

1. Start by performing a few exercises to prepare to do freezes in breakdancing. Building upper body strength is an important part of performing this dance move correctly. Wall pushups, handstands, floor pushups and headstands are good regular exercises to build strength and warm up for breakdancing.

2. Begin this dance move down on your knees, positioning them open and apart. You will move from your dominant side. For example you will lead off on the right side if you are right-handed.

3. Pay close attention to the positioning of your arms when you learn to do freezes in breakdancing. Take your leading elbow and quickly bring it in to your hipbone. This move, known as a "stab," is a lot like stabbing the elbow into the pocket of your hipbone.

4. Lift your left hand and position it above your head. Turn your head and look toward the left if you start this dance move leading from the right, then drop your left hand and pull your elbow in toward your body, allowing you to "sit" on it.

5. End the move by bringing your legs up as your upper body arches upward when you first learn to do freezes in breakdancing.
