Make Use Of The Akai Mpc 2000xl Interface

The Akai MPC2000XL unit provides the user with the ability to do sequencing, drum programming and combined sampling all in one portable desktop unit. The interface of the Akai MPC2000XL allows the user control over all aspects of the MPC.


Instructions


Right-Hand Side of the Interface


1. Adjust the main volume output. Turning the volume knob on the top right-hand side of the interface.


2. Turn the record gain knob to change the level of the signal coming into the MPC. This knob is located beside the volume knob on the interface.


3. Push "Full level" on the top right-hand side of the interface to move the volume of the buttons to their highest level.


4. Put a sample on all the pads with the "16 level" button. This button is located below the "Full level" button.


5. Move to the next sequence of beats by pushing "Next Sequence." The next sequence button is to the right of the "16 Level" button.


6. Mute different tracks with the "Track Mute" button located on the right-hand side of the "Next Sequence" button.


7. Store samples in the pad banks. There are four pad banks for the Akai MPC 2000xl labeled "A" through "D." Each bank has a button labeled "A" above the pads. Each bank holds 16 samples.

8. Look at the main screen of the interface to see all available functions on the Akai MPC 2000xl.


9. Press the function buttons directly below the screen to perform the various functions needed.


10. Select "Main Screen" to return to the home screen from any place in the interface. This button is located below the function buttons.


11. Open a new window for any option with the "New Window" button located beside the "Main Screen" button.


12. Move around the screen with the data wheel and cursor buttons. These are located in the middle of the interface.


13. Use the number pad to enter numbers into the MPC interface. Press the number functions along with the "Shift" key to find different screens for the various functions.


14. Move through the current song or sequence with the locate buttons below the data wheel and cursor buttons.


15. Undo or erase sequences or part of a sequence with the "Undo" and "Erase" buttons. "Undo" resets to the step immediately prior to your last input. It erases entire sequences, so be sure you want to reset before selecting the "Undo" function.


16. Listen and edit with the main transport buttons. These buttons are "Play," "Play Start," "Stop," "Over Dub" and "Record." The main transport buttons are located at the bottom of the left-hand side of the MPC interface.
