Meals Which Help Detox From Metals

Detoxing is used to remove toxins, metals and built-up waste from the body. While toxins can make you feel sluggish, metals in the system also inhibit a sense of clarity and energy throughout the day. Metals are consumed in many ways, including trace amounts from unpurified water, pesticides, and dental braces or fillings.


What is a metal detox?


The body is equipped to remove toxins and buildup on its own; however, when there is too much to process, a buildup occurs. Metals are often removed from the body through bowel movements or urine, expelled through the lungs or excreted through the liver and kidneys.


A metal detox should be done to rid the body of cadmium, lead and mercury, which is absorbed through food, drinks or the environment. Too much metal in the system may be harmful, and can destroy necessary hormones, cells or enzymes throughout the body. Lead is especially dangerous, since it can affect the brain nerves, leading to improper brain development, specifically in young children. Mercury is also dangerous in large quantities, and begins to affect the biliary secretions in the body.


Natural foods for metal detox


One of the most important foods to eat during a metal detox is cilantro. Based on research from Dr. Yoshiaki Omura of the International College of Acupuncture & Electro-Therapeutics, by eating cilantro you can successfully remove toxins and metals from your body. Cilantro has also been known to remove lead, aluminum and mercury from the brain and body.


Suggested servings of two tablespoons each day of cilantro paste for approximately three weeks may help detox the body of harmful toxins and metals. Other suggestions include taking garlic or chlorella with the cilantro, since it may increase efforts to remove metals from the body.


Foods with Vitamin C such as citrus fruits help to detox the body of metals. The vitamin also contains antioxidants that help to eliminate free radicals from within the body. Foods that contain Vitamin E such as vegetable oils, nuts, seeds and legumes may help as well.
