Painting on poster board is a wonderful family activity that allows children and adults to nurture their creative and artistic abilities. The beautiful art you or your children create can be framed and given as gifts to family or friends. Painted signs for your garage sale, lemonade stand, car wash and church group you will surely get noticed. Poster board can be purchased at craft stores and is available at some supermarkets.
Instructions
1. Lay the poster board flat on a table with the shiny side up.
2. Outline the design in pencil if you need straight letters or numbers. There are also stencils available at craft stores that will create a uniform appearance.
3. Fill in pencil marks or freehand your design using acrylic paint and your paint brush.
4. Use oil paint, finger paint and glitter paint on the poster board to create different textures. For a fast sign, use spray paint. Hold the can of paint eight to 12 inches from the poster board, and spray a light coat of paint. Repeat until you reach your desired look.
5. Dry your art project by hanging it on a clothesline. To prevent the paint from running, air dry it on a table for a few minutes before hanging the poster board.
