Historic Register Grants or loans

Historic register grants help individuals and organizations fix up buildings that add to the nation's culture.


Historic register grants for buildings or structures assists non-profits, for-profit corporations, individuals or public agencies restore and preserve these sites for future generations. The purpose of these grants is to save nationally or regionally significant structures that add something to America's culture through their history, beauty or educational opportunities. Grant amounts will vary by needs, but generally organizations can receive up to $10,000.


Save America's Treasures Grant Program


The Save America's Treasures Grant is a partnership program between the National Park Service, the National Endowment for the Arts, the Institute of Museum and Library Services, the National Endowment for the Humanities and the President's Committee on the Arts and the Humanities. The goal of this program is to save areas that are important to the nation, and these can include buildings, items, archaeological/battlefield sites, National Register buildings or historic districts. This grant is open to governmental bodies, tribal governments and non-profit organizations. This is a matching grant program, and grant amounts vary based on needs.

Cynthia Woods Mitchell Fund for Historic Interiors


The Cynthia Woods Mitchell Fund for Historic Interiors is a small grant-funding program that is administered by the National Trust Preservation Fund, and these grants generally range from $2,500 to $10,000. These funds may be used to protect, fix up or interpret the interiors for structures listed on the National Historic Landmark list. This grant is open to both building owners and other individuals, and for-profit corporations, and these grants must be used for a particular project, not just overall funding. Johanna Favrot Fund for Historic Preservation


The Johanna Favrot Fund for Historic Preservation is administered by the National Trust for Historic Preservation, and this grant is open to public agencies and other non-profit organizations.
