Be A Promenade Dress Model

Every year, thousands of teens across the country prepare for one of the biggest days of the their highschool careers: prom. But as girls sift through dozens of prom dress catalogs and magazines, they may find themselves wondering how they too can model the dresses inside of those pages.

Instructions

1. Set up a photo shoot. One of the first steps in becoming a model of any kind is to build a modeling portfolio that contains a variety of looks. This allows agencies and casting directors to see how well a model photographs. During the shoot, make sure that the photographer takes several shots, including headshots, full body shots, commercial, editorial, beauty, and of course a full-length photo in a prom dress.

2. Submit yourself to modeling agencies. This is one of the best ways, if not the best way, to get your foot in the door as a prom dress model. Agencies submit models for auditions and go-sees, (meetings with fashion designers) giving them the opportunity to book modeling gigs. Once you have wowed an agency with your portfolio and are signed, make sure to let your agent know that you are extremely interested in prom dress modeling gigs. These jobs tend to pay less than editorial and runway modeling jobs, so letting your agent know that you want to work as a prom dress model, regardless of pay rate, will give you more of a chance to be submitted for those auditions.

3. Network with prom dress designers and magazine editors when you are sent out on casting calls. Even if you don't book the job that you're sent out for, having a good attitude, stunning portfolio and a good walk can cause them to book you for future opportunities.

4. Keep an eye out for contests. Prom dress magazines and catalogs sometimes hold contests to feature their readers in the magazine modeling prom dresses. This is a great way for an aspiring model to get her foot in the door, and she can use the shots for her portfolio as well.

5. Build a modeling website and post a variety of professional photos on it. This can be done by amping up a MySpace page or building a website from scratch. Send prom dress catalog and magazine editors links to your website and let them know that you are a model, particularly interested in modeling prom dresses.
