Take Marta To Or In The Atlanta Airport terminal

Delta planes line up outside of the Atlanta airport.

MARTA is Atlanta's public transportation system. It stands for Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority. MARTA serves Atlanta's Hartsfield-Jackson International airport through the North-South line of its heavy rail train system at its Airport station, which is attached to the main terminal. Using MARTA is the quickest and cheapest way to get between the airport and downtown Atlanta and points beyond.

Instructions

1. The MARTA station is at the far west end of the main terminal near both the North and the South baggage claims. Passengers with no checked bags can go up the long escalator from the concourses, then go in either direction around the car rental booths. The MARTA station is directly behind these booths.

2. MARTA passengers can use reusable "Breeze" cards. "Breeze" cards are sold inside the ticket office. A fare change took place in 2011/ A Breeze card cost $1 plus additional fare. A single trip cost $2.50, and a round trip cost $5. You can add up to $300 in value to the card if you wish to keep it. Tap the Breeze card on the circular card reader at the gate to enter.

3. The MARTA rail system has just two lines, with one going North-South and the other going East-West. The only transfer station is at the Five Points station in downtown Atlanta. Transfers are free at the station.

4. You may transfer to a bus line for free for one-way trips completed within 3 hours. The free transfer to the bus is automatically activated when it used at the airport. Tap the card on the fare box on the bus. Please check the MARTA website for the bus routes.

5. Most of the major destinations in downtown, midtown and Buckhead are accessible from a MARTA rail stop, including Underground Atlanta, CNN Center, Philips Arena, the High Museum, The World of Coke, Centennial Park and the Georgia Aquarium. Check the maps posted in each station and rail car for the stop you want.
