Whether you used 3M tape to protect areas of your car when painting or you had vent shades on your car that you decided you wanted to remove, the adhesive can stick and cause an unsightly look to your vehicle. Remove 3M tape from your car with these helpful steps.
Instructions
1. Understand that 3M adhesive remover will get rid of the tape residue on your car, but you need to make sure that you are using it in the proper manner so that it does not sit too long on any paint. Place plastic drip cloths below the area you will be removing the adhesive from.
2. Place a rag in a plastic bag. Apply the adhesive remover, which can be purchased at most automotive parts stores, to the rag. You will want to completely drench it with the adhesive remover.
3. Holding the plastic bag so the rag does not drip you will apply the soaked rag to the area adhering to the 3M tape. You will want to hold the rag on the 3M tape for five to 10 minutes. If it is a large area you are removing the tape from you will want to work in small sections.
4. Once you have soaked the tape you will want to use a dry cloth and scrub the residue off. If it does not come off completely repeat Step 3.
5. Wash the area thoroughly with soap and warm water then dry.
