Sort Images By Tags On Picasa

Picasa image processing software includes facial recognition software that lets you sort and organize your photos into people albums by using name tags. When you begin to tag some of your photos with the name of the person shown, Picasa will compare that photo to others in your collection to find matches. Picasa will then make suggestions to let you add untagged photos to your people albums. To start using tags in Picasa, you'll need a Google account and the latest version of Picasa software.

Instructions

1. Double-click on the "Picasa" icon on your desktop to start the program. Click "Sign in to Web Albums" then sign into your Google account.

2. Click "Unnamed People" in the "People" album on the left side of the Picasa screen. Select a picture of a person you recognize within the Picasa Library window. If you don't have a Google contact for that person, type his name in the "Add a name" field and press "Enter". In the "People" window that opens, click "New Person". Add the contact's last name, nickname and email address, then click "OK".

3. Continue selecting images of people you know from the Picasa Library. Click the "Add a name" field for people who are already in your contacts list. Select the correct name tag from the drop-down menu. If the right name tag doesn't appear automatically, begin typing the person's name, then select the tag that appears below the photo.

4. Select any orange question marks that appear in the "People" album. This icon appears when Picasa has face suggestions for your photos. In the Library window, select the green check mark for each correct face suggestion and click the red "X" for each incorrect face suggestion.

5. Double-click on any photo of a person in your collection that Picasa has missed. Click the "Person" icon, which looks like a person's head and shoulders, below the photo. At the bottom of the "People" panel that opens on the right, click "Add a person manually". Click and drag the rectangle over the person's face within the photo. Click "Add a name" then type the person's name. Select the right contact name from the drop-down list.
