You can create custom greeting cards for someone who loves the beach, home decor, T-shirt designs, and so on. A seashell is a very simple, yet beautiful and elegant design. This article will describe create the most commonly used seashell.

Instructions

1. With your rounded rectangle tool, draw a base rectangle with a stroke and the color you'd like your shell to be as the fill. Draw half of a seashell shape on top of that.

2. Copy and paste the seashell half. Select the copy, then go to Object, then Transform, then Reflect. The default settings should automatically reflect it horizontally, as shown. Just press "Okay." Make the seashell shape as symmetrical as possible.

3. Select all three shapes and group by selecting Object, then Group. Now take off the stroke. It should look like one basic seashell shape.

4. With your pen tool, draw rounded fingerlike shapes along the main part of the shell, on one side to the middle. Create this in a color you'd like for your secondary shell color.

5. Select the secondary shapes you just created and group them. Copy the group, and paste. With the copy group still selected, go to Object, then Transform, then Reflect. Place them on the main body of the shell so that it is symmetrical with the first set.

6. With your rounded rectangle shape, you can add an extra base shape at the bottom within the first rounded rectangle shape. This color should be the same color as the row of finger shapes on the shell.
