Portfolio Explanations

When bidding for a job, a good portfolio is key for any photographer. Whether you need something simple and portable, or something in a larger format, choosing the right portfolio type is essential for making the right impression.

Portfolio Books

Self published photography books are a popular way for an artist to show off their range of work. There are many benefits to creating a book such as this. Firstly, a photography book is easier to carry around than a big portfolio case. It can be large enough to illustrate the full effect of your work but still compact enough to fit into a bag. Books also allow you to organize your work into distinctive sections or chapters.

Virtual Portfolios

Many photographers prefer to have their portfolio online in virtual form rather than in traditional print format. This is good for gaining maximum exposure to your work. Because it is online it is easier for companies all over the world to view your work. However, many companies still prefer to have something physical they can look at as well as in digital form and many artists use both formats to maximize their chances of being discovered.

Portfolio Cases

Portfolio cases are used for transporting larger than average pieces. These can be useful if you have large format print work or poster prints in your portfolio. These cases are usually nothing more than a simple flat panel case with protective sleeves loose inside. The actual case is normally constructed of plywood with a PVC covering for hard wearing protection.
