Frame Cloth Within An Embroidery Ring

Frame Cloth in an Embroidery Hoop

Embroidery hoops make life easier for needleworkers at any level. They provide better control of your cloth for cross stitch, crewel and other embroidery projects. If you have ever tried to embroider without a hoop, you know the difficulty in stitching on saggy fabric, especially with large projects. With your cloth neatly framed in an embroidery hoop, you can avoid painful embroidery needle stabs or the frustration of missed stitches that can occur when trying to manipulate floppy cloth. Whether you use a spring hoop or screw hoop, frame your embroidery cloth in four easy steps.

Instructions

Screw Hoops

1. Disassemble the embroidery hoop into two separate hoops. Simply loosen the screw until the inner hoop falls out.

2. Place the smaller inner hoop on a flat surface. Place your embroidery cloth over the hoop, face up.

3. Place the larger hoop on top, sandwiching the cloth between the two hoops. Press down on the larger hoop until you feel the smaller hoop snap into place. If it won't fit, unscrew the outer hoop a little more.

4. Pull on the edges of the cloth to tighten. Turn the screw on the outer hoop to secure the hoops.

Spring Hoops

5. Disassemble the embroidery hoop into two separate hoops. Squeeze the handles on the inner metal hoop and pull the hoop out.

6. Place the larger outer hoop on a flat surface. Place your embroidery cloth over the hoop, face down.

7. Place the smaller spring hoop on top. The cloth should be between the outer hoop and the inner spring hoop. Squeeze the spring handle while pressing the inner hoop into the outer hoop until it snaps into place.

8. Tighten the cloth by pulling on the edges.
