Know If Your Child Is Really A Healthy Weight

Because babies aren't born with instructions, it's easy to become concerned about your baby's weight if she's weighs more or less than you think she should. You can put your mind at ease if you know what your child should weigh at different stages.

Instructions

1. Monitor your baby's growth chart. This tracks his height and weight from birth and tells you if your child's weight is normal, or if there's something to be concerned about.

2. Remember that baby's growth will ebb and flow. There will be periods of rapid growth and periods of slow growth. This is normal and it is not a cause for concern.

3. Look at your baby's developmental milestones. If she's hitting all of her marks, then she's probably doing fine.

4. Consider other circumstances. Your baby's weight will depend on the size of the parents, if she was part of a multiple birth, and even the mother's health during pregnancy.

5. Go in for a baby weight check. Many pediatricians will allow you to do this without setting up an appointment. Just come in and a nurse will weigh your baby, check her height and measure the circumference of her head.
