Hip hop has stood the test of time. It is now known even in the most conservative sects of the population. Still, the genre has its roots on street corners in economically stressed neighborhoods across the world. Youth are still looking for a vehicle for expression. Many want to come together and start rap groups. Here's one way to do this.
Instructions
1. Case the local hip hop scene. Inevitably, there will be other music heads looking for potential collaborators. This is a good way to find out who has freestyle skills, who can create beats and who is just along for the ride.
2. Get to know local DJ's. They often have access to the latest phenom on the scene. DJ's also have an inside track on where local artists are featured. They can also give some insight on artists with compatible styles.
3. Create MP3s of beats and lyrical flow. Post examples of work on message boards and explain a desire to create a group. Interested parties will get a chance to preview a potential band mate and supply examples of their work if there is an interest.
4. Seek feedback wherever it is offered. Word of mouth is strong in the hip hop community. Once the word is out that a talented artist is looking for partners, offers start flowing in. Asking for comments about the music will inspire people to not only listen, but also tell others if they like it.
