Seashells give a nautical feel to any event.
There are many different types, colors and shapes of seashells, which can be used to create eye-catching centerpieces. If you are planning a beach-themed event, incorporate seashells into your table decor. With the right tools and supplies, you can even make them at home. They are sure to be conversation starters and you can feel confident knowing you created them with your own hands.
Instructions
Shell-Filled Pedestal Bowl
1. Pour clean, dry sand into a glass pedestal bowl, filling the bottom third.
2. Fill the remainder two-thirds of the bowl with an array of seashells.
3. If desired, place a large pillar candle in the center of the pedestal bowl, surrounded by the array of seashells.
4. Place the piece in the center of your table. Surround it with tea light candles and small shells.
Beach Vases
5. Pour clean, dry sand into two or three square glass vases of varying sizes. Fill the vases to about the three-quarters mark.
6. Place sea grass in one corner of each vase, securing it in the sand. Fan the sea grass up and out.
7. Push sticks of coral upright into the sand, placing them in front of the sea grass.
8. Place an array of seashells on the sand in each vase. Lay some flat and prop larger ones upright in a corner. Place a few tea light candles on the sand.
9. Arrange the finished vases in the center of your table.
Seashell Wreath
10. Lay a grapevine wreath flat on a table. Cover the surface with hot glue.
11. Place Spanish moss on the wreath, pressing it into the glue.
12. Place hot glue on one side of a seashell and glue it onto the moss. Complete this process until the entire surface is covered with an array of shells.
13. Place the wreath in the center of your table. Put a large pillar candle in the middle.
